NYTโ€™s Maggie Haberman Ensnared In Feud Over Trump Inaugural Funds

Melania Trump with Stephanie Winston Wolkoff

In case you missed it, the Trump inaugural saga has taken a new, and very interesting twist lately, with now Twitter-active Stephanie Winston Wolkoff taking a direct shot at Maggie Haberman and Ken Vogel of the New York Times(NYT), as being part of the plot to throw her under the bus.

Youโ€™ll remember that after the bombshell revelation that a staggering $40 million of Trumpโ€™s inaugural funds had mysteriously disappeared, there was an effort by Trumpโ€™s allies to pin the blame on then First Lady Melania Trumpโ€™s Senior Advisor Stephanie Winston Wolkoff. Stephanie Wolkoff talked about this effort to throw her under the bus at an appearance on MSNBCโ€™s Rachel Maddow show on September 1, 2020.

In the interview, a visibly upset Stephanie Wolkoff told host Maddow, that then First Lady Melania Trump basically told her she had to be the fall person for the Trump inaugural scandal. Wolkoff specifically said, โ€œMelania and the [Trump]White House had accused me of criminal activity, then publicly shamed and fired me, and made me their scapegoat. At that moment in time, thatโ€™s when I pressed record. She was no longer my friend, and she was willing to let them take me down, and she told me herself, that this is the way it has to be. She was advised by the attorneys at the White House that there was no other choice because there was a possible investigation into the presidential inauguration committeeโ€ฆ.At first I really did think maybe she would come to my aid? Maybe she would tell the truth? She turned her back, she did. She folded like a deck of cards., and Iโ€™m shocked she did it.โ€

This 05/23/2021 tweet however, shows that Stephanie Wolkoff is not only going after Trump and his allies in her effort to set the record straight regarding Trumpโ€™s inaugural, sheโ€™s also calling out NYTโ€™s Maggie Haberman and Ken Vogel, as being part of the plot to destroy her. This, if proven, could turn out to be a huge scandal unto itself, given the fact that many liberals still blame the New York Times for Trumpโ€™s ascension to the White House. Specifically, many liberals believe NYTโ€™s excessive coverage of the โ€œemail scandalโ€, weakened Hillary Clintonโ€™s campaign during the final stretch of the 2016 campaign.

Thereโ€™s no other way any reasonable person can interpret Stephanie Wolkoffโ€™s tweet other than NYTโ€™s Haberman and Vogel were doing Trumpโ€™s bidding when they wrote the referenced piece. This is especially so considering Wolkoffโ€™s invocation of โ€œSETUP. COVERUP. TAKEDOWNโ€ in her tweet. For the record, accusations of โ€œaccess journalismโ€ against then White House reporter for the New York Times, Maggie Haberman, persisted throughout Trumpโ€™s presidency. Stephanie Wolkoff is not the first person drawing that inference.

Bottom line folks, Yours Truly is not accusing Maggie Haberman or Ken Vogel of any wrongdoing. By all accounts, these are serious journalists, who exhibit a high level of professionalism(my personal opinion). What Yours Truly is simply pointing out, is what any reasonable person presented with Stephanie Wolkoffโ€™s recent tweet would conclude, and that is, Haberman and Vogel were in on the plot by Trumpโ€™s allies to throw her under the bus. It would be in everybodyโ€™s interest, especially Wolkoff who suffered greatly as a result of the Trump inaugural saga, if Haberman, Vogel or even the New York Times management, addressed this issue.

Is Trumpโ€™s GOP A Criminal Enterprise?

$upport via Cash App

Ever since Trump was elected U.S. President in November 2016, many Americans have wrestled with the question as to whether he is being unduly influenced by Russiaโ€™s President Vladimir Putin. The question of Russiaโ€™s influence over Trump grew into a crescendo prompting the launching of a formal investigation (Mueller probe) to look into whether Trumpโ€™s campaign colluded with Russia in 2016.

Even though the official finding of the Mueller probe was that there was not enough evidence to prove that TeamTrump colluded with Russia, questions about Trumpโ€™s ties to Russia have persisted, partly because Mueller never completely shut that door. Remember, Mueller never concluded that TeamTrump never colluded with Russia. What he said was that he never collected enough evidence to prove it. One of the key witnesses he had relied on to prove his case, Paul Manafort, totally stonewalled his investigation.

Beyond Trumpโ€™s strange ties to Russia, a lot of Americans have also been confounded by the extreme measures congressional Republicans have taken and continue to take, all in an effort to shield President Trump from any congressional oversight. This has led a lot of people to validly speculate that congressional Republicans are privy to some wrongdoings (potentially criminal) by Trump, and have made a conscious decision to hide this from the publicโ€“which has given rise to this notion that Trumpโ€™s GOP is a criminal enterprise.

Yours Truly raised this very question way back in August 2018 in a blog post titled Proof That Congressional Republicans Have Become A Criminal Enterprise, a post which you probably summarily dismissed as โ€œyet another conspiracy theoryโ€ pushed by โ€œradical liberal @Emolclause.โ€ The blog post was based on an August 27, 2018 piece by Jonathan Chait of the Intelligencer, which made the bombshell revelation that congressional Republicans had essentially sworn to shield from any oversight, a list of things they figured would be harmful to Trumpโ€™s presidency. Some of the items in GOPโ€™s shield-at-all-costs list included surprise surprise, Trumpโ€™s tax returns, Trumpโ€™s family business, White house clearances, and shockingly, issues dealing with election security/Russians hacking our elections.

Any reasonable person reading this bombshell Intelligencer piece would have concluded as Yours Truly did, that congressional Republicans had not only become a criminal enterprise, but that they were certainly not working in the interests of the American people.

A lot has transpired since August 2018 and what many of you summarily dismissed as โ€œwild conspiracy theories by radical @Emolclauseโ€ is now playing out right in front of our very eyes. It has become impossible to continue assuming that congressional Republicans are just naively defending Trump. Many are now starting to to state publicly that Trumpโ€™s GOP has indeed become a criminal enterprise.

There are many reasons as to why people have become more comfortable in publicly calling Trumpโ€™s GOP a criminal enterprise but the best reason by far is the shocking conduct we witnessed during the recent impeachment hearings, when Republican members of congress, in an effort to defend Trump, kept repeating a debunked conspiracy theory pushed by Russian intelligence officials, that it was Ukraine who interfered with our 2016 elections. This shocking behavior by congressional Republicans drew sharp rebuke from Trumpโ€™s former adviser on Russia, Dr Fiona Hill, who castigated them to their faces, telling them they were doing Putinโ€™s work.

Senator and Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris(CA) is no longer biting her tongue either regarding this topic and recently called Republicans a โ€œcriminal enterpriseโ€ on CBSโ€™ Steven Colbert show, an assertion she gladly repeated on her Twitter account.

For the record, neither the Intelligencer nor Yours Truly were the first to start labelling Trumpโ€™s GOP a criminal enterprise. Shining lights like Author Sarah Kendzior were already warning about this right after Trump won the electionโ€“an assertion many in the mainstream media dismissed. Just today the aforementioned Sarah Kendzior stopped by MSNBCโ€™s AMJoy show where she dropped this bombshell totally in keeping with her previous warnings.

Bottom line folks, we cannot keep kicking the can down the road over the very serious queston as to whether sitting Republican members of congress are engaged in some kind of criminal conspiracy with a hostile foreign power(Russia). Thereโ€™s enough smoke at this juncture for Democrats and indeed the mainstream media to start publicly asking the question Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently posed to President Trump and that is, why all Trumpโ€™s/GOPโ€™s roads seem to lead to Russia, and more importantly, what is so rotten with their Russia dealings that they are terrified of the public finding out?

Paxtons Are A Symbol Of Texas GOPโ€™s Corruption

$upport viaย Cash App

Texas Attorney-General and his wife State Senator Angela Paxton

A lot has been made about the corruption of the Trump administration and Republicans generally at the national level, and deservedly so. Very little however is said about the entrenched corruption among Republicans at the state level, especially in so-called โ€œRed Statesโ€ like Texas that have a GOP trifectaโ€“control of the Judiciary, Legislature and Executive Branch.

Hopefully this bombshell piece by Texas Tribune will open the door to more coverage of the entrenched GOP Corruption in the Lone Star State and other โ€œRed Statesโ€

The Texas Tribune piece above goes into great detail about how State Senator Angela Paxtonโ€™s new bill opens her up to charges of corruption. So in order to avoid redundancy, Yours Truly will do what he does bestโ€“cut to the chase and tell grassroots Democrats what is corrupt/swampy about Senator Paxtonโ€™s bill.

You will remember that in 2015, Texas Attorney-General was indicted and charged for violating a Texas securities lawโ€“essentially giving investment advice that he was not authorized to give. In Texas, as in many other states, one is required to register with the state board before giving investment advice. Giving investment advice without registering with the state board is a third degree felony in Texas (2-10 years jail). There are many reasons for the state board registration requirement, key among them curbing corruption/self dealing. If I am a major shareholder at a large Texas company, and I am advising someone/ a corporation to make a major investment in the same company, the folks at the Texas state board can easily sniff out the self dealing because they will have records of all my financial entanglements. Simply put, it is a very important anti-corruption measure to have investment advisers register with the Texas state board.

Angela Paxton the wife of Texas AG Ken Paxton ran for office in 2018 and was elected Texas State Senator for Senate District 8(SD 8). One of her first actions as a Texas legislator was introducing Senate Bill 860 (SB860) which among other things, seeks to make it legal for someone to give investment advice without registering with the Texas state boardโ€“the same thing her husband is currently in trouble for. Itโ€™s not hard to see why the naked self-dealing/corruption that is inherent in Sen Paxtonโ€™s SB860 has sparked outrage in Texas. Sadly however, this is just a sample of the kind of entrenched corruption that is commonplace in โ€œRed Statesโ€ like Texas that never get the mainstream media attention they deserveHopefully from here on out the Texas Tribune and other major Texas publications will expose instances of public corruption like the one exhibited by the Paxtons. Yours Truly will certainly make #TexasSwamp a major topic of debate especially as we approach the 2020 elections.

Bottom line if Democrats hope to turn Texas blue, they have to make the entrenched GOP Corruption a key campaign issue in 2020 and beyond. Maybe just maybe this may be the key to Democrats capturing the coveted US Senate seat currently held by John Cornyn in 2020.

GOP Gutted IRSโ€™ Ability To Go After Rich Tax Cheats

$upport via Cash App

An investigation by ProPublica has revealed that since 2010 congressional Republicans have systematically gutted the IRSโ€™ budget for the express purpose of dramatically reducing its ability to pursue rich tax cheats, while at the same time ramping up the agencyโ€™s ability to go after the working poor who claim earned income credit. If there was ever a classic case of GOPโ€™s war on poverty, this shocking finding by ProPublica certainly is.

Excerpt from ProPublicaโ€™s 12/11/2018 piece

This troubling ProPublica revelation comes as many working families are getting ready to file their 2018 taxes and yesโ€“claim their earned income credit. It is sickening to learn that as the working poor are looking forward to getting their income tax refunds so they can catch up on their bills, congressional Republicans have primed the IRS to target them with audits, while letting the rich tax cheats avoid IRS scrutiny. This is absolutely sickening and House Democrats and the mainstream media must get to the bottom of this shameful attack on the poor by the GOP.

This chart from the same ProPublica piece says it all. Notice how sharply audits of those who earn $500K or more(typically Republicans) have dropped compared to the other income groups. As the article correctly points out, it is the rich who cheat on their taxes more which means IRS auditors should concentrate more on them as opposed to the poor.

The incoming House Democratic majority owes it to its voters to investigate this troubling state of affairs at the IRS. For the record, the ProPublica piece points out that it is not the IRS that is at fault here but rather congressional Republicans who have made them go after poor filers claiming earned income credit. Nobody is advocating that the IRS turn a blind eye to poor people fraudulently claiming EIC. However it is only fair that the IRS also go after rich tax filers who by far do most of the tax cheating.

Bottom line it is in everyoneโ€™s interest that the ability of the IRS to go after all tax cheats, rich and poor, is fully restored. Where, as here, Republicans have turned this powerful agency into a weapon to attack poor working families, while at the same time neutering its ability to go after rich tax cheats, House Democrats have a duty to step in and restore the agency to its full investigative capacity. Specifically, House Democrats must fully furnish the IRS with the tools it needs(experienced auditors) to aggressively go after rich tax cheats. It is simply immoral to have this powerful agency go after poor working families while the rich tax cheats get off scot-free.

Will Dems Subpoena Justice Kennedyโ€™s Son Over Deutsche Bank?

$upport via Cash App

President Trump with Justice Anthony Kennedy(Retired)

In the days following the June 2018 announcement by Justice Anthony Kennedy that he was retiring from the Supreme Court, there was rampant speculation that his resignation was not entirely voluntary but rather that the Trump administration engineered/even forced him out for fear that the GOP may lose their U.S. Senate majority to the Democrats in the November 2018 elections. In essence, the Trump administration did not want Justice Kennedy to retire at a time when Democrats controlled the Senate because that would make it difficult for any Trump SCOTUS nominee to be confirmed.

Speculation that the Trump Admin forced out Justice Kennedy took a whole new turn after the New York Times did a bombshell piece revealing that Justice Kennedyโ€™s son Justin Kennedy had been a longtime financier for Trump. Specifically, that Justin Kennedy was Trumpโ€™s financier at the troubled Deutsche Bank which has come under international scrutiny over allegations that it is the bank of choice for Russian money launderers.

Justin Kennedy, the son of Retired Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy

Justin Kennedy was apparently the global head of real estate capital markets at Deutsche Bank which leaves absolutely no doubt that he would be the point man at Deutsche Bank for Trumpโ€™s vast real estate empire. Part of the bombshell The NYT piece read;โ€œDuring Mr. Kennedyโ€™s tenure, Deutsche Bank became Mr. Trumpโ€™s most important lender, dispensing well over $1 billion in loans to him for the renovation and construction of skyscrapers in New York and Chicago at a time other mainstream banks were wary of doing business with him because of his troubled business history.โ€

With Special Counsel Mueller increasingly zeroing in on Trumpโ€™s business ties to Russia and news that German authorities recently raided the troubled Deutsche Bank, the question now being raised is whether with their new found majority in the House, Democrats will subpoena Trump-related Deutsche Bank records and specifically whether they will call Justin Kennedy to testify about his financial dealings with Trump.

Justin Kennedyโ€™s testimony in Congress could also lay to rest the lingering speculation as to whether his dad was forced by the Trump administration to resign from the U.S. Supreme Court before the November 2018 elections. For more on this topic Yours Truly suggests that you check out this must read thread, which also raises questions about Justice Kavanaughโ€™s involvement in Justice Kennedyโ€™s abrupt decision to retire.

Justin Kennedyโ€™s testimony in Congress could also lay to rest the lingering speculation as to whether his dad was forced by the Trump administration to resign from the U.S. Supreme Court before the November 2018 elections.

Bottom line given the serious questions being raised about Deutsche Bankโ€™s ties to President Trump and its troubling history as a conduit for Russian money laundering, it would be Congressional malpractice if House Democrats did not call Justin Kennedy to testify about his role at the troubled bank and specifically, find out what criteria Deutsche Bank used to justify loaning Trump so much money when other โ€œmainstreamโ€ banks declined to do so. Was Russia the source of these loans to Trump?. Grassroots Democrats would also like to know whether Kavanaugh played any part in Justice Kennedyโ€™s retirementโ€“essentially engineering his own ascendancy to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Proof That Congressional Republicans Have Become A Criminal Enterprise

Ever since Trump became President, many have wondered why congressional Republicans have totally abdicated oversight functions that all their predecessors routinely conducted and Americans came to expect as the norm. The inaction as regards oversight by House Speaker Ryan and Senate Majority Leader McConnellโ€™s congress has struck most Americans as very strange and has spawned many conspiracy theories, the most popular one being that Russian President Putin has โ€œKompromatโ€ on all congressional Republicans.

Well, courtesy of a bombshell article by The Daily Intelligencer, we now find out that congressional Republicans have actually compiled a secret list of things they have vowed to block from any congressional oversight requested by Demsโ€“a sad and totally unprecedented move by U.S. members of congress.

The list of items GOP has vowed to keep away from any congressional oversight includes โ€œelection security and hacking attemptsโ€, โ€ White House security clearancesโ€, โ€œTrumpโ€™s Tax Returnsโ€, โ€ Trumpโ€™s family businessesโ€, among many others. Think about that, we currently have GOP members of congress whose stated mission is to hide from the public any wrongdoing by Trump and his administrationโ€“the aforementioned criminal enterprise.

Bottom line Dems and the mainstream media must start calling out congressional Republicans for totally abdicating their oversight functions. Its about time people started calling Trumpโ€™s GOP what it truly isโ€“a criminal enterprise. What House Speaker Ryan and Senate Majority Leader McConnell are presiding over in congress today goes way beyond what Americans would characterize as โ€œpolitics as usualโ€ and is borderline if not out and out criminal conduct.

Meet the 23 House Republicans Hiding Trumpโ€™s Tax Returns

$upport via Cash App

After news that Rhode Islandโ€™s Senate approved a measure requiring all presidential candidates to release 5 years of their tax returns in order to be placed on the stateโ€™s ballot, the focus has again shifted to Trumpโ€™s tax returns, a major campaign issue during the run-up to the 2016 presidential elections. Grassroots Dems including Yours Truly, ecstatic about Rhode Islandโ€™s decision are now pushing for other states to follow Rhode Islandโ€™s lead and lock Trump out of the 2020 ballot unless he releases the tax returns he promised toโ€“the #NoTaxReturnsNoBallot campaign

โ€” Emoluments Clause (@Emolclause) June 22, 2018

Left out of the renewed tax return debate however, is the fact that GOP members of Congress have played a major role in aiding the president hide his tax returns from the public, especially these 23 Republicans in the House Ways and Means Committee, or as Yours Truly calls them, the “wall of shame”.

Their efforts to block moves by Congressional Dems to have Trumpโ€™s tax returns released to the public were reported in this February 15, 2017 piece by the DailyKos. As you can see from the article, the DailyKos has done all the legwork in exposing these shameful GOP members of congress. Yours Truly is simply hitting you with a reminder now that midterms 2018 are around the corner. As usual they will be coming begging for your votes claiming they stand for โ€œtransparency in government.โ€ They will be hoping off course that youโ€™ve long forgotten about their lack of transparency re Trumpโ€™s tax returns. Bottomline folks, #NoTaxReturnsNoBallot is a win-win fight for Dems because it puts the GOP in the unenviable position of defending a public official(Trump) who promised to release his tax returns while campaigning but now chooses to hide them, even as questions about his corrupt business practices continue to pile up. Dem State Reps across the country must introduce bills like the one in Rhode Island so as to get Republicans go on the record with a vote to hide Trumpโ€™s tax returnsโ€“a vote for lack of transparency in government. Dems can rest assured that midterms 2018 voters will not be happy with pro-secrecy in government candidatesโ€“the GOPers hiding Trumpโ€™s tax returns.

Folks see if one of these wall of shame bums is your Rep in Congress and if they are, make sure to vote them out this Midterms 2018!!
