Interesting segment on the 09/03/25 edition of MSNBC’s All In With Chris Hayes show delved into the New York City Mayoral race.
Per Hayes, the Trump administration appears to have a horse in the race, and that is former Governor Cuomo. Specifically, the Trump admin is trying to get the other major candidates—incumbent Mayor Eric Adams and GOP candidate Curtis Sliwa—to drop out of the race, giving Cuomo a better chance of winning a one-on-one train against heavy favorite Zohran Mandani.
President Trump and former Governor famously clashed during the COVID pandemic and have been considered not to be in friendly terms ever since. So this report that Trump is actually rooting for Cuomo to become NYC’s Mayor will undoubtedly add to the growing concerns about a “uniparty” in American politics.
Both the Cuomo and Adams teams have denied these collusion reports so it will be interesting to see how this plays out as we approach the November elections.
