Was Jerry Falwell Jr Blackmailed Into Endorsing Trump?

A bombshell Reuters piece featured on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow show says leading Evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr may have been blackmailed by Michael Cohen into endorsing then presidential candidate Trump during the 2016 GOP primaries. As Maddow correctly points out, it was widely expected that Jerry Falwell Jr and other leading Evangelicals would throw their support behind Ted Cruz who at that time was very popular among Evangelicals.

However in a strange turn of events, Falwell Jr endorsed the Trump candidacy right before the crucial 2016 Iowa caucus. We now find out that days before endorsing Trump, then Trump attorney Michael Cohen had “taken care of” a situation involving racy photos of Falwell Jr and his wife. Specifically, someone was blackmailing Jerry Falwell Jr and his wife using their racy personal photos. Jerry Falwell Jr enlisted Cohen’s services (the “Fixer”) to get the photos from the blackmailer. Cohen apparently succeeded in the mission but according to the Reuters piece, kept one of the racy photos as leverage over the Falwells. According to Maddow, shortly after Jerry Falwell Jr found out that Michael Cohen had retained one of the racy photos, he abruptly endorsed Trump for president even though he had been widely expected to endorse Ted Cruz . The full Maddow segment is available here but the relevant clip is below.

Bottom line, while this is not concrete proof that Jerry Falwell Jr endorsed Trump in 2016 because of the racy photos, it certainly adds to the questions many have over the Evangelical support for Trump. It also, as Maddow correctly points out, raises legitimate questions as to whether the Trump campaign violated campaign finance laws in seeking Jerry Falwell Jr’s endorsement in this manner.

Shocking Racist Voicemail By Trump Evangelical

We’ve always always wondered just what kind of Evangelical Christian supports Trump, given his penchant for lying, division and even hostilily towards non-whites. Well wonder no more. Here’s a shocking racist voicemail al attack one such evangelical leveled at Bishop Talbert Swan, a black Pastor, who later shared it on Twitter

In the racial attack you get all of the lingo usually associated with President Trump–“fake” Pastor”, “lyin” Obama and then the hate for immigrants–“go back to Africa”.

Yours Truly routinely attacks Evangelicals who blindly support Trump and hopefully this shocking video opens up your eyes as to why.

Bottom line something has gone terribly wrong with the U.S. evangelical movement especially as relates to their blind support for Trump. As this video clearly shows, there is no Evangelism left in the Evangelicals currently supporting Trump. Evangelicals of good conscience need to stand up and right this ship.

Trump Evangelicals Lobby For Saudi Crown Prince Over Khashoggi

Trump-allied Evangelicals Meet With Saudi Crown Prince MBS In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

One month after the brutal assassination of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a delegation of Trump-allied Evangelical leaders took a trip to Saudi Arabia where they reportedly met with embattled Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman(MBS) on Thursday November 1.

The Evangelical delegation is reportedly pushing for closer ties between the Trump administration and the Saudi Kingdom despite the Khashoggi assassination. Listed below are some of the Trump-allied Evangelicals who met MBS in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

According to the Religion News Service(RNS) piece, author Joel Rosenberg who led the U.S. delegation of Evangelicals to Saudi Arabia conceded that the timing of their trip made it controversial given the recent Khashoggi assassination. The delegation however justified the trip saying, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is among the wealthiest, most powerful, and most important nations in the Middle East, in all of history.” There is no other way to read this other than Evangelical leaders are on a visit to Saudi Arabia urging the Trump administration to maintain close ties to the Saudi Royals despite the Khashoggi assassination, because the Saudis are rich.

Yours Truly has been very critical of Trump Evangelicals whose message increasingly appears to be in total contravention of well known Biblical teachings, even heretical at times, and this is yet another classic example.

Here you have the Saudi royal family clearly implicated in the cold blooded murder of a U.S. resident journalist. After numerous unsuccessful attempts at a cover up, the Saudi royals finally concede that Khashoggi was murdered at their consulate in Istanbul. Of all the good Christ-like things one would think Evangelical leaders would get involved with worldwide, this delegation has chosen to make excuses for a cold blooded murder because the murderers are rich–the quintessential heresy.

According to the RNS piece, the Evangelical delegation released a statement after their meeting with the Saudi Crown prince calling themselves “Ambassadors for Christ” and adding, “As Evangelicals, it is our desire to lift up the name of Jesus whenever we are asked and wherever we go.” Folks, Ambassadors for Christ do not lobby for rich murderers. Its about time the Evangelical delegation to Saudi Arabia leveled with Americans and confessed that they made the trip to Saudi Arabia as Ambassadors for themselves in search of their god—money.

Bottom line we can all agree that lobbying for a regime simply because it is wealthy, one month after it has been implicated in a brutal assassination of a U.S. resident journalist can never qualify as something done out of a “desire to lift up the name of Jesus.”
