One month after the brutal assassination of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a delegation of Trump-allied Evangelical leaders took a trip to Saudi Arabia where they reportedly met with embattled Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman(MBS) on Thursday November 1.
U.S. evangelical leaders decided to meet with the Saudi crown prince despite the Khashoggi controversy because Saudi Arabia is “among the wealthiest, most powerful, and most important nations in the Middle East, in all of history. https://t.co/MiqwPeYlL1

The Evangelical delegation is reportedly pushing for closer ties between the Trump administration and the Saudi Kingdom despite the Khashoggi assassination. Listed below are some of the Trump-allied Evangelicals who met MBS in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
According to the Religion News Service(RNS) piece, author Joel Rosenberg who led the U.S. delegation of Evangelicals to Saudi Arabia conceded that the timing of their trip made it controversial given the recent Khashoggi assassination. The delegation however justified the trip saying, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is among the wealthiest, most powerful, and most important nations in the Middle East, in all of history.” There is no other way to read this other than Evangelical leaders are on a visit to Saudi Arabia urging the Trump administration to maintain close ties to the Saudi Royals despite the Khashoggi assassination, because the Saudis are rich.
Yours Truly has been very critical of Trump Evangelicals whose message increasingly appears to be in total contravention of well known Biblical teachings, even heretical at times, and this is yet another classic example.

Here you have the Saudi royal family clearly implicated in the cold blooded murder of a U.S. resident journalist. After numerous unsuccessful attempts at a cover up, the Saudi royals finally concede that Khashoggi was murdered at their consulate in Istanbul. Of all the good Christ-like things one would think Evangelical leaders would get involved with worldwide, this delegation has chosen to make excuses for a cold blooded murder because the murderers are rich–the quintessential heresy.
According to the RNS piece, the Evangelical delegation released a statement after their meeting with the Saudi Crown prince calling themselves “Ambassadors for Christ” and adding, “As Evangelicals, it is our desire to lift up the name of Jesus whenever we are asked and wherever we go.” Folks, Ambassadors for Christ do not lobby for rich murderers. Its about time the Evangelical delegation to Saudi Arabia leveled with Americans and confessed that they made the trip to Saudi Arabia as Ambassadors for themselves in search of their god—money.
Bottom line we can all agree that lobbying for a regime simply because it is wealthy, one month after it has been implicated in a brutal assassination of a U.S. resident journalist can never qualify as something done out of a “desire to lift up the name of Jesus.”
