If Only America Prioritized Domestic Spending Over Foreign Wars

Before leaning too hard into that claim, it’s worth noting that there isn’t any confirmed public record of a U.S. “$25 billion in 30 days” war with Iran or an official Pentagon acknowledgment of such a figure. Numbers like that circulate on social media and can be misleading or pulled from broader defense spending categories. That said, using the $25 billion figure as a hypothetical is still a useful way to understand tradeoffs in federal spending priorities.

If $25 billion were spent in a single month and continued for several months, the scale becomes enormous very quickly. At that pace, you’re looking at $75 billion over three months or $150 billion over six. That’s not abstract money—it’s comparable to or larger than the annual budgets of entire domestic programs that affect tens of millions of people.

To put that into perspective, $25 billion could fund a substantial expansion of Medicaid coverage, the joint federal-state program that already covers around 70+ million Americans. Estimates vary by state, but on average, a few thousand dollars per enrollee per year can provide basic coverage. That means tens of billions could extend coverage to millions more people or significantly improve reimbursement rates for providers, making care more accessible in underserved areas. Instead of emergency rooms absorbing uncompensated care, you’d have a more stable, preventative system that lowers long-term costs.

Childcare is another area where that level of funding would be transformative. One of the biggest barriers for working families is the cost of daycare, which in many parts of the country rivals rent or even college tuition. A $25 billion investment could dramatically expand subsidies, cap costs as a percentage of income, or fund universal pre-K programs across multiple states. Even spreading that money over a few months could stabilize childcare providers, raise wages for workers in the sector, and make it possible for millions of parents to re-enter or stay in the workforce.

Then there’s nutrition assistance. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, is one of the most efficient anti-poverty programs in the U.S., with administrative costs that are relatively low compared to its impact. Tens of billions of dollars could increase benefit levels, expand eligibility, or ensure consistent access during economic downturns. A temporary $25 billion boost alone could significantly raise monthly benefits for millions of households, directly reducing food insecurity almost overnight.

If that $25 billion monthly pace continued, the cumulative effect becomes even more striking. Three months of that spending—$75 billion—could fund a nationwide childcare affordability initiative and still leave room to expand healthcare access. Six months—$150 billion—could reshape multiple systems at once: stabilizing Medicaid, making childcare broadly affordable, and strengthening food assistance in a way that meaningfully reduces poverty.

The broader point isn’t that defense spending and domestic programs are interchangeable line items; they operate under different political and strategic frameworks. But the comparison highlights how quickly resources can be mobilized when something is treated as urgent. When similar urgency is applied to domestic issues like healthcare, childcare, or food security, the scale of what’s possible looks very different.

Framing it this way makes the tradeoffs clearer. It’s not just about whether a number like $25 billion is large—it’s about what that same amount of money represents in everyday terms: doctor visits people can afford, childcare slots parents can rely on, and groceries families don’t have to skip.

Growing Calls For Sen Mike Lee To Resign

Calls are growing for Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) to resign following the very insensitive social media post he put up right after news broke out that someone had assassinated a state lawmaker in Minnesota.

Instead of waiting on further news from Minnesota about the motive of the shooter, Senator Lee took to X, and without evidence, claimed Marxism made the shooter commit the heinous crime.

News reports have since established that the shooter is a registered Republican, and a huge supporter of President Trump—totally contradicting Sen Lee’s attempt to depict him as some far left lunatic.

Beyond just being totally wrong on the facts surrounding the motive, people are also very upset with Senator Lee for his total lack of humanity regarding the issue—jumping right into politicizing the incident with zero regard whatsoever about the grieving family.

It will be interesting to see whether Senator Lee survives calls for his resignation. Notably, he has since taken down (deleted) his insensitive social media posts regarding the incident. He’s also taking a lot of incoming from the media in his home state Utah. Will that prove be enough pressure to force him to step aside? Hmm, only time will tell.

How Many Americans Are Wrongfully Caught Up In The Counterterrorism Dragnet? Congress Must Act!!

A segment on Fox and Friends Show(04/11/23) delved into a bombshell new report that the FBI launched a domestic terrorism investigation into Catholic Churches in Virginia, with an aim to root out “radical traditionalist Catholic ideology”. As expected, this, as was the case with the counterterrorism investigation into conservative parents protesting at their local school boards, has led to valid questions as to who else gets wrongfully caught up in these counterterrorism dragnets?

Fox and Friends host Ainsley Earhardt put it best when she posed this question(1:24): “How many other memos are out there? How many other investigations that we don’t know about?”

The question Ainsley raises is one that has been raised since the Patriot Act’s passage(2001), and reasonable people will agree that after more than two decades of unanswered questions, the national security establishment needs to be compelled to shed some light on this issue. Simply put, there is no longer any excuse for Congress looking the other way, when there is overwhelming evidence that there are indeed a lot of Americans caught up in the counterterrorism dragnet, even though they have nothing to do with terrorism. Abusing counterterrorism resources is in itself, a national security problem–leads to loss of confidence from the public.

OathKeepers Indictment Raises Serious Questions About Higher Up Involvement

$upport via Cash App

The bombshell seditious conspiracy indictment of 11 members of the militia group OathKeepers following their involvement in the January 6th insurrection, is raising serious questions as to how far up the law enforcement, military, and intelligence food chain, the conspiracy went. Specifically, given the level of tactical military sophistication they displayed on January 6th, there are valid questions as to whether Trump-allied senior members of U.S. law enforcement, military, and intelligence apparatus, gave material support, or even worse, are still members of this dangerous militia group that attempted to violently overthrow the government. A segment on CNN’s Outfront with Erin Burnett(01/13/22) delved into this very topic.

Host Erin Burnett said in relevant part: “Prior planning, coordination, sedition, weapons. The 11 people charged today, were[in a]conspiracy, and they are not small fish, like many of the more than 700 people already charged, some of who may have been wrapped up in the moment. Not the case with these individuals. This group had a level of combat training, they were prepared to use force, they had a stash of weapons that they brought for that specific intent, and the question tonight is…now you’ve got a conspiracy, you’ve got planning, you’ve got it all laid out. How much higher does that go?”

Any reasonable person presented with the OathKeepers indictment would reasonably conclude, as host Erin Burnett did, that given the sophistication of their January 6th operation, people higher up in the law enforcement, military, intelligence and even political food chain, were providing material support to the OathKeepers. Providing material support to this dangerous militia group would also necessarily imply that they are members of the group–a scary thought indeed.

CNN’s Sara Sidner followed up with an in depth look at OathKeepers leader Stewart Rhodes in an appearance on New Day (01/14/22), where she dropped a bombshell that further bolsters the troubling prospect that the OathKeepers may have enjoyed material support from insiders within our law enforcement, military and intelligence ranks.

Sara Sidner said: “One of the things the OathKeepers do, is they try and recruit either current or former military, current or former members of law enforcement, current or former people who have been part of the intelligence apparatus in the United States, whether it be the FBI , CIA, anybody that they can get and bring into the organization, and when you think about that, it means that they have tactical training to do something like this[January 6th], and to plan something like this.”

This raises serious questions including but not limited to, what kind of arms and illegally acquired intelligence the OathKeepers currently have, whether in light of this indictment, it’s still okay to have active members of our law enforcement, military, and intelligence apparatus being active members of this violent militia group, etc.

Bottom line folks, Erin Burnett’s question as to how high up this conspiracy goes, is a very serious one, that needs to be seriously addressed by Congress, especially the January 6th Committee, and the mainstream media. For the record, this question has been raised before by concerned members of the public, including Yours Truly, but always treated as one requiring a voluntary answer from our law enforcement, military and intelligence brass. Given the seriousness of this OathKeepers indictment, this question should no longer be one that requires a voluntary answer. The mainstream media and Congress, preferably the January 6th Committee, must demand an answer from leaders in our law enforcement, military and intelligence agencies, as to how much the OathKeepers have infiltrated their ranks. This is a serious national security problem, and it should be treated as such. A major part of the January 6th Committee’s mission is to prevent another January 6th-type insurrection. Reasonable people will agree that rooting out extremism within our law enforcement, military, and intelligence ranks will go a long way in fulfilling that mission.

Specific emphasis should be placed on Trumper states like Texas, which has a heavy OathKeepers presence, and was involved all the way to the top(AG Paxton and other political leaders) in Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. What other nefarious activities are the OathKeepers enlisted for in such states? Did the Texas political establishment provide material support to the OathKeepers, for their January 6th operation?

Parler Notified FBI 50 Times About Potential Violence On January 6th

$upport via Cash App

Rep Jackie Speier (D-CA) made a bombshell revelation on MSNBC’s All In show(06/15/21), that the conservative social media network Parler, sent as many as 50 emails to the FBI, trying to warn them about potential violence on January 6th. Shockingly, none of Parler’s alarming emails made it to FBI Director Chris Wray’s desk. Rep Speier is a member of the House Oversight Committee which has been investigating Parler for it’s role in the January 6th DC insurrection. The documents Parler provided the House Oversight Committee, clearly show that the conservative social media network did its part as far as notifying authorities, and that it was the FBI who dropped the ball.

Rep Speier told host Chris Hayes: “I was stunned when it became known that Parler, a conservative social media website, contacted the FBI with emails fifty times, and those fifty emails never reached the Director[Chris Wray]. One of those emails talks about ‘Congress has to hear glass breaking, and doors being kicked in, and blood being shed. This is the time to get violent. We are at war.’ Now, if Parler…thinks these are alarming and sends them to the FBI, and it doesn’t get elevated, then we’ve got a serious problem within the FBI in terms of assessing intelligence.” How some intelligence analyst at the FBI decided that this was not serious enough, either for a concrete plan of action, or to be brought to Director Wray’s attention, is certainly grounds for a congressional investigation.

Prior to this bombshell revelation by Parler, the FBI had largely been spared from the public’s criticism of the intelligence failures that led to the insurrection. Most of the blame was pinned on the Capitol Police, the military(National Guard), and to some extent the Department of Homeland Security. This Parler revelation totally changes the ball game, and redirects the focus towards the FBI.

It bears pointing out that even before the Parler bombshell, people like Sen Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) were already raising a lot of questions as to why the FBI was not able to stop the DC insurrection, and the bureau’s involvement in other scandals that plagued the Trump administration.

Bottom line folks, with every passing day, it becomes clearer and clearer that the January 6th DC insurrection was a totally preventable incident. All the warnings were out there for any curious person to pick up on. Why the people whose job it is to prevent such incidents from happening, either deliberately, or through negligence, ignored such clear warnings, is an issue the U.S. Congress must absolutely get to the bottom of. Congress owes this to the families who needlessly lost loved ones on that fateful day.
